I help API, infrastructure, and devtools teams turn developer signups into active, retained users — strategy, developer experience, and community programs with numbers attached. You work with me directly: Ben Greenberg, 10+ years leading DevRel at Vonage, New Relic, and Arbitrum.

Yalla DevRel is a developer relations consultancy giving devtool, API, and infrastructure companies senior DevRel strategy, developer experience audits, and community programs on a month-to-month retainer, from $4,000/month.

Transparent pricing. No surprises.

Engagements run $4,000–$15,000+ per month, month-to-month. For context: a senior full-time DevRel hire is $200K+ fully loaded and takes 3–6 months to land — and most DevRel agencies start around $30K per quarter. You get the principal, not a pod of juniors.

I work with a maximum of 5 companies at a time, so every engagement gets senior attention.

A great fit if…

  • → Developers are your customers — devtools, APIs, infrastructure, or web3
  • → You want senior DevRel leadership without a $180K+ hire
  • → You're ready to act on recommendations, not shelve them

Probably not a fit if…

  • → You don't have a product developers can use yet
  • → You're looking for a lead-gen vendor or booth staff
  • → You need a large embedded team rather than senior leadership

Not sure which fits? Talk to Ben directly → and we'll figure it out together.

// measurement

DevRel that can’t show numbers gets cut. Mine shows numbers.

Every engagement starts by agreeing on the two or three metrics that map to your business — not vanity reach. Depending on your stage, that’s usually:

Activation
signup → first successful API call or deploy (both time and rate)
Adoption
weekly active developers, and apps running in production on your platform
Efficiency
docs-deflected support tickets, and time-to-first-value
Pipeline influence
developer-sourced and developer-influenced revenue, tracked honestly — attribution in DevRel is lossy, and I'll tell you what we can and can't claim

You get a monthly one-page scorecard against those metrics — written so you can forward it, unedited, to your CFO. If the numbers aren’t moving, you’ll hear it from me first.

DevRel consulting FAQ

Everything you need to know before getting started

Who is Yalla DevRel for?

Companies whose customers are developers — devtools, APIs, infrastructure, and web3 platforms. If you need senior DevRel leadership without the cost and lead time of a full-time hire, this is built for you. Typical clients are somewhere between a first developer-facing product and a DevRel team that has outgrown its strategy.

What is fractional DevRel?

Fractional DevRel means hiring a senior Developer Relations leader part-time instead of full-time. A fractional Head of DevRel sets strategy, builds programs, and mentors your team for a monthly retainer — Yalla DevRel's fractional engagements run $4,000–$15,000 per month — compared with $180,000–$250,000+ fully loaded for a full-time senior hire.

More on fractional DevRel
Why not just hire a full-time DevRel person instead?

Sometimes you should — and I'll tell you if that's the honest answer on our first call. The pattern that works best: use a consultant to set strategy and stand up the first programs, then hire full-time into a scoped, proven role. I'll write the job description and help you interview.

Full breakdown: consultant vs. full-time hire
Can one fractional consultant actually move the needle?

On execution volume, no — one person can't out-produce a five-person team, and I won't pretend otherwise. On outcomes, usually yes: most early DevRel programs fail from wrong strategy, not insufficient headcount — content nobody reads, events that don't convert, communities nobody returns to. I've built these programs inside Vonage, New Relic, and Arbitrum; I know which 20% of the work moves adoption. And when execution capacity becomes the real bottleneck, I help you hire for it — that's the Embedded tier's whole job.

How do you prove DevRel is working? Our CFO will ask.

We agree on two or three metrics tied to your business before any work starts — activation rate, weekly active developers, docs-deflected tickets, developer-influenced pipeline — and you get a monthly one-page scorecard against them. DevRel attribution is genuinely imperfect and I'll be straight about what we can and can't claim, which is exactly what makes the numbers we do claim credible.

What happens if we reorganize or cut budget?

You cancel — it's month-to-month, one click, no notice period. That's the point: a consultant is an operating expense you can stop, not a hire you have to unwind. Everything I build ships into your repos, your docs, and your CRM — it stays when I go.

How much does DevRel consulting cost?

Yalla DevRel offers ongoing Advisory retainers at $4,000/month, Growth retainers at $8,000/month, and an application-based Embedded engagement (fractional Head of DevRel) from $15,000/month. One-time assessments for Developer Experience, Developer Marketing, or Developer Community are $5,000 each — a fraction of the cost of a full-time senior DevRel hire, and credited in full toward your first retainer month if you continue.

What DevRel consulting costs in 2026
What's the difference between the retainers?

Advisory is a senior sounding board: monthly strategy calls, async access, and program reviews to keep your DevRel efforts on track. Growth adds hands-on execution — content strategy, community program development, and team mentorship delivered alongside your team. Embedded is a fractional Head of DevRel engagement: weekly embedded work, end-to-end ownership of the DevRel roadmap, hiring support, and executive reporting, available by application.

Am I locked into a long-term contract?

No. Retainers are month-to-month subscriptions handled through Stripe — you can cancel anytime, with no notice period. Assessments are one-time, fixed-scope engagements.

What happens after an assessment?

You'll receive a detailed report with prioritized, actionable recommendations you can execute with your own team. And if you decide to continue into an Advisory or Growth retainer, your full assessment fee is credited toward your first month — so trying Yalla DevRel is risk-free.

What happens after I check out?

Immediately after payment you'll be redirected to book your kickoff call. Retainers start with a strategy session in your first week; assessments begin with a scoping call so the deep-dive is focused on what matters most to you.
